Rosacea Redness and Angiomas
Tiny dilated blood vessels on the surface of the skin are the cause of persistant redness of the face and neck, and can occur as spider veins, red lines or cherry angiomas (red spots) in different areas. These lesions can be treated safely by laser.
At Clinique Dermatolaser Pointelière we use two types of laser for a comprehensive approach to problems relating to rosacea and redness of the skin:
- Krypton laser
- Candella V-Beam laser
Treatment with both of these types is very safe because they destroy
only undesirable blood vessels without affecting other skin elements.
Krypton laser is used when dilated blood vessels causing the redness are
clearly visible and well defined under the surface of the skin. Candella
V-Beam laser is more effective for treating areas of diffused redness.
Is it painful?
Candella V-Beam laser treatment is painless. Krypton laser treatment
produces a repeated tingling sensation well tolerated by most people. In
cases of hypersensitivity, an anesthetic cream is applied one hour
before Krypton treatment.
After treatment?
Redness that appears in the first few hours following treatment will
fade. In certain cases the doctor will use the Candella laser at a pulse
level that can result in temporary black and blue discoloration, but
this will produce no lasting or harmful effects. Regular activity can be
continued and make-up applied as usual. However, it is necessary to
avoid exposure to the sun and to protect the area by applying a
sunscreen that has a sun protection factor of at least 15 SPF for two
months following treatment.
How many sessions are necessary?
Depending on the problem, 1 to 4 treatments at intervals of 6 to 12
weeks.
