Spots / Pigmentation
Brown skin lesions have various origins: birthmarks, beauty spots, liver or age spots (café au lait), and pigmentation that darkens with age and sometimes becomes rough textured. A medical evaluation is important to determine the exact nature since certain cancerous and precancerous lesions are brown or can darken.
At Dr. Andrée Mathieu Serra Clinic, you will be evaluated by a dermatologist specializing in skin disorders and disease. The lasers on site provide provide effective and safe treatment for many pigmentation spots. The types of laser known as Krypton and Q-Switched Nd-YAG can be calibrated to emit a green wavelength that is absorbed by melanin, the skin's brown pigment. Destruction of the brown lesions follows, with no damage to other skin elements.
